Honoring My Hero
A day dedicated to the heroes of our lives. Growing up, I regarded my father as the hero of my life. Father’s day is celebrated around the world every year in order to recognize the contribution of a father to the growth and development of his children’s life. This father’s day, celebrated on the third Sunday of June, let us honor our brave and hardworking fathers who work tirelessly to educate their children and support their families.
Father’s Day was founded by Sonora Smart Dodd on June 19,
1910, in Spokane, Washington YMCA, it was the birthday of Sonora Smart Dodd's
father, American Civil War veteran William Jackson Smart. She had the idea then
while listening to the mother’s day sermon turning into a holiday. Father’s
day showcases the role of a father in the lives of his children and family
and recognizes the efforts and contributions made to his family and society. It
is celebrated by thanking our fathers in our own ways, just like by simply
giving gifts, greeting them, eating out, and much more.
They have only wished for the good for us and are always there to support and guide us in everything we do. That is why we dedicate the day to them because they deserve it. It’s never too early or too late to start planning out how to celebrate your dad. We can or should appreciate and honor our fathers not only at this time of the year but every day. Other males, like our grandfathers or uncles who have assumed parenting roles, are often also honored on the day.
