Honoring My Hero

Image
A day dedicated to the heroes of our lives. Growing up, I regarded my father as the hero of my life. Fatherā€™s day is celebrated around the world every year in order to recognize the contribution of a father to the growth and development of his childrenā€™s life. This fatherā€™s day, celebrated on the third Sunday of June, let us honor our brave and hardworking fathers who work tirelessly to educate their children and support their families. Fatherā€™s Day was founded by Sonora Smart Dodd on June 19, 1910, in Spokane, Washington YMCA, it was the birthday of Sonora Smart Dodd's father, American Civil War veteran William Jackson Smart. She had the idea then while listening to the motherā€™s day sermon turning into a holiday. Fatherā€™s day showcases the role of a father in the lives of his children and family and recognizes the efforts and contributions made to his family and society. It is celebrated by thanking our fathers in our own ways, just like by simply giving gifts, greeting t...

Until this day we can never miss the important event in history in which we celebrate the victory the achievement of the independence of the Philippines against its occupiers. Independence Day is an annual national holiday in the Philippines observed on June 12, commemorating the declaration of Philippine independence from Spain in 1898.  Opposition to Spanish rule began among Filipino priests. they resented the Spaniards over the claim of the roman catholic churches on the islands. In August 1896, Revolts began to erupt across Luzon, and in 1897 or March, Emilio Aguinaldo became the leader of the rebellion. April 1989, the Spanish-American war broke out over Spainā€™s brutal suppression of a rebellion in Cuba.  The fir...

The Purest Love

Mothers are indeed wonderful. They brought us into this world and love us unconditionally. That is why they deserve a day dedicated to them, which is motherā€™s day. A day celebrated by everyone across the world in different forms. However, one day is not enough to celebrate motherhood and we should make every day as special as Mother's Day to shower our love upon our mothers. Motherā€™s Day is a celebration where we honor our mothers in the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is commonly celebrated in the months of March or May and takes place in different parts of the world in different ways. There are some who celebrate it simply but meaningfully, people take their mothers for a day out and spend quality time and some make it creative and grand for their mothers. Inspiring Women

Image
Women play a big role in inspiring and changing the world for betterment, especially in difficult times. Their contributions to the development of our country and the large part they play in society can be clearly seen. Just like nurses, teachers, janitress, waitresses, and so on. Especially our mothers who brought us into this world and continue to love us. However, many women still experience discrimination and inequality on the basis of sex and gender across the world. Nevertheless, women and other people still promote womenā€™s sense of self-worth, showing their ability to determine their own choices and speak for their right to influence social change for themselves and others. Such as Hidilyn Diaz a Filipina weightlifter and airwoman and the first Filipino to ever win an Olympic gold medal for the Philippines. She proved to everyone that there is nothing women cannot do and that women donā€™t have to let society dictate whatā€™s right for them. Another empowered Filipina woman who co...

Three-Quarters

Image
Coming into this quarter, I felt very excited and motivated. I started the quarter thinking positively and confidently. Although in each phase, some difficulties are inevitable as a result we learn more things causing an even more rewarding sentiment at the end of this quarter. For this quarter, I learned about Community-Based Research. I ascertained the different parts and terms of Community-Based Research and made a Community-Based Project. Because of this lesson, I learned more about my own place or hometown such as its cultures, livelihood, traditions, and tourist spots. In addition, I think doing a Community-Based Project is a great opportunity to promote my own town. Although, I also went through some difficulties, such as finding and gathering information about my town and enumerating the different categories in Community-Based Research showcased in our community. But eventually, I also solved these problems by researching the necessary information about our community. Movin...

Vaccinating Youth

Image
It is undeniable that this global pandemic has put breaks in our daily lives. Fortunately, with the help of various researchers and experts in the world, who have developed vaccines against covid-19 we are slowly recovering from the pandemic. Now that many adults have been vaccinated, it can be seen that it has also made a big difference in our recovery from the pandemic, the number of people getting infected with covid-19 and the number of recorded cases has decreased. Because of this, vaccinations have also been carried out on teenagers 12 to 17 years old, and recently vaccinations have also started on children 5 years old and above. It is a big help that there is already a vaccine for the youth because it is also for their safety. After vaccination, if the body is later exposed to those disease-causing germs, the body is immediately ready to destroy them, preventing illness. Through this, if more people are vaccinated, we will definitely be able to recover from the pandemic f...

A Follower of Christ

Image
Lent, in the Christian church, is a period of penitential preparation for Easter. In Filipino, we also call it kwaresma wherein Filipino people recall Christā€™s death and resurrection. The Philippines is known to be a Christian country, and most of Filipinos are devout Catholics. There are also multiple traditions and practices in the Philippines during the Lenten season that is still existent and practiced even up to the present times. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory days of fasting and abstinence for Catholics. Ash Wednesday is a day of repentance and marks the beginning of the penitential Lenten season. It is a solemn reminder of human mortality and the need for reconciliation with God by receiving an imposition of ashes on their foreheads on the first day of Lent. Moreover, another tradition that Catholics do is the practice of visiting 7 churches and reciting the station of the cross. It is commonly done on Maundy Thursday or Good Friday which is called Visita Igle...

Ending the Quarter Right

Image
Another quarter has come to an end. It feels that the 2 nd quarter has gone so fast, in spite of that, I acquired lots of knowledge and information through this quarter. After the hassles and stress for the last few months, now that I got through another quarter, I feel relieved and grateful. This quarter I learned about making html files. I learned about the basics of html, html links, html tags, and more. I also gained more knowledge in blogging and I enjoy blogging a lot. It feels nice to customize your webpage and have something to post on your blog every now and then. Although, there are also some problems I encountered for this quarter.  Making html files was new for me so it was a bit difficult and complicated at first but as I read and practice more about it, I got the hang of it and it eventually became easier for me to comprehend the lessons. There are also times that some parts of the html donā€™t work but through modules, it was easier to follow some steps and f...
